Margriet Reinalda aspires, more than anything, to shape the imagination.

Margriet feels strongly that everyone of us reaches for those moments in which we can escape everyday’s reality. For those are the moments when we seem to transcend ourselves, and time seems to stop for a moment. At these moments our consciousness becomes part of it all, of everything around us. Art provides one of the roads to get to this level of experience.
Through her artistic work Margriet reaches for this miraculous and transcendental phenomenon.

She uses deep contrasts, in order to activate our imagination between intensive light and deep darkness. To her, light symbolizes a strong desire for freedom.
Her use of photography and film gives her work, just as her use of light does, an elusive and insubstantial quality.
She makes only scantily use of other materials to get to the core.
